Staff Summer Reading Program

Page history last edited by connie.urquhart@... 5 mos ago

Introducing Fresno County Public Library's first summer reading program just for staff!

June 15th - August 9th ~ open to all staff

Submit reviews here.

How it works

  1. Each teen book you read = 1 point.
  2. Each review written (& posted on Read.Watch.Listen.--we'll do that part) = 2 pts.
  3. Prizes for the top three readers at the end of the program!

Rules

You may choose any book you like within the following guidelines:

  1. Check out the book genres/categories on the right-hand column on our teen website, Read.Watch.Listen. You don't have to read books from the website (in fact, we encourage you to choose new ones); however, each book you read must represent a different category from the ones listed. Also, you cannot repeat a category until you read a book from each one. Once you've read a book from each category, you are free to read as many books as you like from any category at all.(Exception: you can choose to skip any two categories and still be eligible to begin repeating categories.)
  2. Each book must be from the YA collection (exception: Street Lit--that can come from the adult section).
  3. Each book must be published in 2008 or 2009 (exception: for the category Books to Screen, as long as the movie or TV show was released in 2008 or 2009, it doesn’t matter when the book was published This means you could read Twilight because the movie was released in 2008).
  4. If a book applies to multiple categories, let us know which one you'd like it to count toward (ex. Twilight is both vampires and romance).
  5. Please wait to read and report during the official summer reading program: June 15th - August 9th.
  6. All reading must be done off the clock and not during work hours. Youth Services staff will not be eligible to win prizes but will be reading alongside everyone else, just for fun.

Procedures

  1. When you are finished with a book, submit your title read and review online here or email the title and/or review to Connie Urquhart or Faythe Arredondo. We'll be keeping track and posting updates to the staff summer reading program page of Read.Watch.Listen (or click the image below).
  2. Questions? Email us or call 488.3205.
  3. Bottom line is: this is supposed to be fun! If you have a book you want to count that doesn't fit the above criteria, email us and make a case for it.
